Places to visit during your stay in Norfolk and North Cambridgeshire

There are so many great local hotspots in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire that are worth visiting. One of the most famous is the Royal Estate of Sandringham, the Queen’s country retreat, which extends across 24 hectares of landscaped gardens. Visitors can explore the museum and magnificent house, all while enjoying an ice cream on a sunny afternoon or a warm hot chocolate on a winter’s evening.

In neighbouring Wisbech, take a trip to the National Trust property Peckover House and Gardens, an old Georgian town house on the banks of the River Nene, and head further down the river to take a tour of the Elgoods Brewery where they’ve been brewing beer since 1795.

All around ‘The Wash’, the stretch of coastline that boasts stunning views of the North Sea, you can take in the beautiful scenery, enjoy the Michelin star restaurants or take the kids out for a fun-packed afternoon. Hunstanton, Snettisham and Heacham are all driveable distances from The Crown Lodge’s location.

Further inland, visitors can spend the morning soaking in the majestic Ely Cathedral then drive 20 minutes to the centre of historic Cambridge or liven things up with cycling or tree climbing in Thetford Forest, the largest lowland pine forest in Britain.
