Squash
Squash is an important part to the life of the Crown.
It is an active scene with three men’s teams, two mixed and one ladies team competing in the Cambridgeshire and the Peterborough leagues.
Throughout the year we organise competitions and internal leagues to suit all abilities. Courts are booked for 40 minutes, using two tokens. A token costs £3.10. You can telephone a week in advance to book a court.
We currently hold the England squash Silver Charter Award.
PRIVATE COACHING is available: £18 adults and £15 juniors for 40 minutes (this includes lights) with an England Squash Level 3 Coach. You may like a couple of sessions to introduce you to the game or an improver session to work on technique or fitness. You can be coached individually or you may choose to share a session with a few friends.
CLUB NIGHT – an easy way to have a game, no need to book a court, just turn up and play. This is a great opportunity to play different people, especially if you are new to the club. Games are played as a ‘round robin’ with some doubles often played towards the end of the session. £3.10 per person.
Monday 7.20pm – 9.20pm approx
JUNIORS – Group sessions on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Many of our juniors have progressed through the ranks to very high standards of squash. Several of our players represent the county. We enter several teams each year in the Cambridgeshire Junior Leagues where the youngsters have a chance to compete against other clubs within Cambridgeshire.
Fees: £19.50 for six weeks, paid in advance
Free courts are offered to juniors participating in coaching groups at off peak times.
An award Scheme is run to chart progress and we hold an annual Junior Club Championship plus smaller competitions throughout the year.
We are an England Squash approved centre for MINI SQUASH. This is for very young children from 5 years. Starting with FUNdataion level progressing through IMPROVER then on to the PRO. Fees are £18 for six weeks, paid in advance.
RACKETBALL – Racketball is played on the courts and equipment can be hired from the shop (£2.50 for two rackets and a ball). Not as strenuous as squash or quite as difficult to learn initially but just as much fun.
The cost of squash membership is just £10 per year. With this you can enjoy the use of the courts for squash and racketball or relax on the sunbed. In addition you will receive a £5 credit on your loyalty card to spend at the Crown.
